The Team

Our youth work provision is headed up by the only paid member of staff, Roy, the youth leader. Without our dedicated team we simply couldn’t function.

Roy Peach
Youth Leader

Roy’s lived in Oxford all his life, restarting KYC in June 2017.

He has a BA (Hons) in Youth Work and nearly 20 years’ experience working with young people through work (education, local authority) and volunteer settings (Scouts and theatre).

His focus has always been on young people’s wellbeing with his dissertation on mental health and the affects of mindfulness on disaffected youth. He is Charity Manager for Wolvercote Young People’s Club, owns his own wellbeing and coaching business, and is a freelance writer.

Roy leads on programme and activities, is a First Aider, and is one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads.

Session Supporters

Our Session Supporters are volunteers with experience in youth organisations who help out on a semi-regular basis, usually for particular activities, such as cooking or outdoors. Members of the committee volunteer their time to sessions too. Unlike our parent helpers who may offer once a year (and that’s appreciated beyond belief), our Session Supporters tend to be there on a more regular basis.

Some of the tasks undertaken by our team, whether Youth Support Helper or Parent Helper, include:

  • Helping on club nights, supervising games and helping the young people perfect their dart’s throw
  • Organisation and supervising cooking activities on club nights
  • Selling tuck on club nights
  • Fundraising
  • Admin support
  • DIY of the building and equipment
  • Cleaning
  • Equipment sourcing and purchasing
